- What is Transmedicalism?
Transmedicalism is the understanding that Transsexualism and Transgenderism are two different issues, with different causes, different needs, and different solutions.
- What is Transsexualism?
Transsexualism is a medical disorder, in the same category as some intersex conditions, wherein a person of either sex, male or female, is born with a body that exhibits a preponderance of
characteristics of the opposite sex; resulting in extreme distress of the individual. The only effective cure is medical intervention to correct the deformities of the body.
Transexualism is extremely rare; approximately one in every 30,000 people is transexual.
Summary: Transexualism is a biological condition, based on the neurogenetic sex of the individual.
- What is Transgenderism?
Considered by some to be an umbrella term that can include transsexualism; but not limited to the binary gender model nor dependent on gender dysphoria as
a component.
Transgenderism is more common than transexualism; approximately 300 out of every 30,000 people is transgender.
Summary: Transgenderism is psychological in nature, reflecting the self-perceived gender identity of the individual.
